Jam Cookies

2/3 cup sugar
2 cubes butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 cup favorite jam (apricot, strawberry, raspberry, or blackberry)

1 cup powder sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 teaspoons water
(Combine these three ingredients in a bowl with a whisk and set aside)

Beat butter and sugar together. Add vanilla and flour. Wrap and refrigerate one hour. Roll into one inch balls and then indent the middle of each cookie with your thumb to form a bowl for the jam. Put a small spoon full of jam in each indentation. Bake at 350 for 12-14 minutes. When cookies come out of the oven, brush with glaze and let set for two minutes before removing from cookie sheet.
